Introductory Post

Years ago I remember my parents frequently commenting about a feature in the magazine Reader’s Digest titled “My Most Unforgettable Character.”  They both agreed that the person that would fit that description in their lives would be my mother’s father, Carl Mueller. And I concur that my grandfather was quite a character. However, in writing this blog, I want to highlight the lives of my parents themselves, although I’m sure they would never think of their lives as being extraordinary and probably most of us feel the same about our own lives. Nevertheless, I decided for the topic of my first blog to be the first people in my life –my parents, Martin and Verona Lopahs.

Now you may wonder what made me decide to do a blog. Well, I look at writing as a hobby of mine. I enjoy writing. I have been one of those people who for years have thought that someday I would write a book. And I even had a book about my parents in mind some twenty years ago when I did some interviews with my parents. Also, awhile back I sent out requests to family and friends for info and anecdotes to put in a book. It was always for someday. But someday never came. Until now! Although I’m not actually writing a book, I am going to finally organize the info I’ve collected over the years and put it in my blog.

Now this blog is not for the general public. You cannot find it by “googling” for it. I’m only writing this for the family and friends of my parents and will publicize it as such. So you may have found this address  on Facebook or in our Christmas letter. If you know of anyone that may not have received a notice from me but knew my parents and might enjoy reading about them, please pass this address along. Also, I encourage all my readers to add your comments in the comment section below, such as their relationship with you – family, friends, pastor, teacher, etc.

I hope to add a new post several times a month which would lead me to accomplishing my goal of having all my info in print and in one place. Then it might actually be ready to become a book! If anyone would be interested in writing a guest post, that would be great! Please fill out the form on my contact page.
